Aladekomo, Adetu for CIMA GBC national final

Business Leaders, including Chairman of SmartCity Resorts Plc, Sir Demola Aladekomo, and former Managing Director of Guinness Nigeria Plc, Mr. Seni Adetu, will serve as judges in the first Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Global Business Challenge (GBC) national final slated for June 6, 2015 at the Lagos Court of Arbitration in Lekki, Lagos.

Business Leaders, including Chairman of SmartCity Resorts Plc, Sir Demola Aladekomo, and former Managing Director of Guinness Nigeria Plc, Mr. Seni Adetu, will serve as judges in the first Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Global Business Challenge (GBC) national final slated for June 6, 2015 at the Lagos Court of Arbitration in Lekki, Lagos.

Other judges at the CIMA GBC national final are Mr. Laoye Jaiyeola, Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) and Imo Oyewole, Managing Consultant, Global Talent Network – HR Consultants.

GBC is an international competition designed by the CIMA to bring out the best in young future business leaders and emphasizes on CIMA’s vision of developing and nurturing young talent around the world. GBC helps undergraduate students to foster better interpersonal and communications skills, by working together as a four-member team to present a business case study.

Participants in the competition will comprise of teams of four undergraduates from universities, polytechnics and monotechnics across Nigeria who successfully scaled the initial screening to emerge as finalists.

Each team will deliver a presentation on a real-life business case study and proffer solutions to the business challenge therein.   The judges, boardroom gurus with wide-ranging experience in the corporate world, will evaluate the presentations of each team in a question and answer session to test the viability and strength of each team’s recommendations.

They will then decide on the team that will forge ahead to represent “Team Nigeria” at the global finals in Warsaw, Poland next August.   Speaking on the choice of judges for the competition, CIMA Country Manager, Ijeoma Anadozie, said “The judges are some of Nigeria’s leading businessmen, entrepreneurs and thought leaders.

They come from a variety of backgrounds and level of comfort with various industries and technologies. The national finals will be very exciting as there will be a meeting of great minds and exchange of amazing ideas.”

The 2015 edition will be the first time that Nigerian undergraduates will take part in the annual global business competition. Nigeria’s representatives to the competition will emerge at the end of a keenly contested national final in Lagos.

The Nigerian final sponsored by Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers Limited also enjoys support from Guinness Nigeria Plc, Nigerian Breweries Plc and Mara Mentors.

The teams that will take part in the national final include Dream Team from University of Ilorin, Team Galatic from the Obafemi Awolowo University, N-Ergy from Obafemi Awolowo University and FUTOITES Business Team from Federal University of Technology Owerri. They were shortlisted from 95 entries received from 17 higher institutions across Nigeria.
