Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has inaugurated new executive members for Nigerian Legion (Lagos Chapter) to ensure that the Legionnaires deliver on their mandate.

The new executives include Retired Colonel Samuel Fola Akande as the Chairman; Comrade Muibi Mufutau as the Vice-Chairman; and Babatunde Onashokun as the State Council Treasurer.

Ambode, who was represented by the Commissioner, Ministry of Home Affairs, Dr. Abdul Hakeem AbdulLateef, said the paramount objective of the Council “is to promote the comfort, happiness and interests of the legionnaires, as well as that of the orphans, widows and other department of departed service-men.

He urged the elected Council members to operate with the with fear of God, take steps in full consciousness that the mandate they have gotten was through God and run a very credible and transparent administration that enhance the fostering of atmosphere of love, brotherhood, camaraderie, friendliness, equity, justice and unity among members.

He said the governor has expressed willingness to “always reward novel and outstanding achievements that ensure Lagos continue to move to greater level of excellence at all times.”

He assured of improving the standard of living among legionnaires and their families, and promised to build on his recent measures of N25 million donation and remain focused on his promise to employ 3000 members for security in all primary and secondary schools.
