The Delta State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) has insisted that it will not suspend its one-week old industrial action until all the issues are addressed.

The Chairman of Delta state NUT, Jonathan Jemiregbe, who disclosed this recently in Asaba, added that the ation would continue until government pay up the backlog of their entitlements and salaries as well as release the promotion of its numbers.

Academic activities had ground to a standstill last Thursday following an indefinite strike action by the union over alleged non-payment of Primary school teachers’ salaries, entitlements and non-release of promotion of Secondary School Teachers in the state.

The Commissioner for Secondary and Basic Education, Chiedu Ebie said that the government was already talking with the union leadership with a view to addressing their grievances.
