Former Minister of Education, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili, and other experts have urged Nigerian youths to imbibe integrity and other sterling values to enthrone a better Nigeria.

This was disclosed at the first edition of the Custodian Investment Plc tagged “Mentorship Conference” held in Lagos to connect young professionals and entrepreneurs with mentors they could learn practical lessons from.

Speaking on values, Ezekwesili, attributed poor governance to bad parenting, quoting her dad’s words “Never negotiate your values.” According to her, “integrity is not complete until it is consistent, certificates can expire but the strong values of the person that acquired the certificate don’t expire. Being a person of strong values will give you sustainable value. If you stay with your values, the world will ultimately come back to you”, she said.

She stressed that poor governance is a system that is against her kind that demands accountability, adding that government appointment is not a reward but an assignment.

She maintained that the solution to poor governance is for young Nigerian citizens having and amplifying a voice instituted in integrity and backed up with knowledge
In same vein, the Group Managing Director, Custodian Investment Plc, Wole Oshin, encouraged young Nigerians saying that organisational culture is what determines the direction of an organization, adding that the Custodian Insurance company has a culture of paying claims as fast as possible.

He urged the youths to be entrepreneurial in anywhere they find themselves in order to emerge as successful fellows in business.

Admonishing the youths on “finding your future”, Principal, Alder Consulting, Leke Alder, who also spoke at the event cited some predominant factors saying, “Putting your best into anything that comes your way, integrity is a credit facility, avoid giving excuses in life, think through before you share your ideas with anyone. Never be afraid to take on giants”
