In its quest to reduce the rate of unemployment and idleness in the country as well as to discourage youths from depending on white collar jobs by embracing wealth creation through self-development mechanisms, the Ministry of Finance in collaboration with JK Consulting Company Limited, recently, held three- day training for 100 graduate interns in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The training featured activities as training on skills for work place, CV preparation, uploading techniques, career development, career growth, entrepreneurial development and SMEs promotion among others.

According to the Director, Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS), Federal Ministry of Finance, P.M. Papka, who was represented by  Benedict Wonah, beneficiaries should avail themselves the opportunity and make judicious use of the skills learnt to ensure self-discovery, redefinition of self-esteem, self-actualisation and to better ensure growth in their various fields of endeavour.

According to him, this is a time to prepare and encourage one’s self for the challenges ahead by becoming employers of labour and wealth creators.

He further noted that graduates who diligently welcomed the training are already being employed while others have received financial aids to boost their co-operate establishments.

The programme coordinator; Miss. Mfon Otung noted that attaining success is not an easy task.

She encouraged the youths to utilize the opportunity and see the training as part of the experience necessary to attain success in a contemporary society.

Commending the efforts of the government and the firm, a beneficiary Chioma Peters was quoted as saying the programme should be sustained, adding that it has assisted and sustained innumerable youths and has created a platform for efficient and effective work environment.
