Group donates computer sets to alma mater

The 1993 set of the Old Students Association of Stadium High School in Lagos has recently donated computers worth two million naira to its alma mater to empower students.
The President of the association Olusola Fayonbo , who is a senior immigration personnel said after 25 years of passing through the institution, the 1993 set deemed it fit not only to mentor students of the school but to also empower them, thus the donation of 20 pieces of complete computer sets with beneficial software that would be of good help to the students.

He noted that it was a privilege for the students because they have people to look up to as mentors unlike during their own time when there was no one to encourage them. “While we were growing we had no one to look up to, the environment wasn’t that good and friendly, our parents were poor and we just managed to struggle through life and God has been faithful.”

Fayombo stated that hitherto, the set had given out school furniture, books and a human anatomy to the school at different times, but now they didn’t want their alma matter to be left out in the trend of technology change of analogue to the digital system.He further noted that 10 sets each of the computers would be given to both the senior and junior high schools.

The founder of the association, Christian George while recalling how he failed on two different occasions to bring his set together until 2015 remarked that the effort from the group was to make other sets emulate them to enhance the development of the school.

He said there is a bigger house called the stadium high school old student association and the 1993 set belongs there already, “but nothing is happening there so we decided to distinct ourselves.”

In her response to the kind gesture, the Principal of the Stadium Senior High School, Comfort Oloyede said since the introduction of the group to the school, they have been really helpful in so many ways, especially by mentoring and encouraging the students.

She was glad that in spite of all the odds, the set decided to levy themselves to contribute to the betterment of their foundation to reflect the school’s motto “towards a better society.”The school authority also made further appeals for thm to look at the school gate projects, and also incentives for the teaching staff moving forward.
