International Breweries restructures board of directors, appoints Igwe Achebe chairman

The International Breweries Plc. has appointed His Royal Majesty, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe as its new Chairman and has also restructured its board of directors.

The International Breweries Plc. has appointed His Royal Majesty, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe as its new Chairman and has also restructured its board of directors.

The corporate changes to the company was sequel to the merger of Intafact Beverages Limited and Pabod Breweries Limited with International Breweries Plc., effective 13 November, 2017 which necessitated the presence of the merged companies on the board of the new entity.

A statement made available to The Guardian by the Company Secretary/General Counsel, Muyiwa Ayojimi explained that Igwe Achebe replaces Mr. Sunday Akintoye Omole who recently stepped down as Chairman of the Board following the merger of the three Companies, but remains on the Board as a Non-Executive Director.

At the Annual General Meeting of the Company which held on 30 May, 2018, shareholders ratified and approved the appointments of the Managing Director, Annabelle Degroot; Finance Director, Zuber Momoniat to the new board of the firm.

Non-Executive Directors include HRM Igwe Peter Nwokike Anugwu, Michael Onochie Ajukwu, Abiye Tobin-West and Phillip Redman.

Other members of the board are Michael Daramola and Godwin Oche.

Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha, had a 30-year career with the Royal Dutch Shell Petroleum Group of Companies in Nigeria and overseas. He was the Chairman of Diamond Bank PLC and Intafact Beverages Ltd. (subsidiary of AB In Bev). He was appointed to the Board of Unilever Nigeria Plc. in March 2003 and is currently the chairman of the board.

Zuber Momoniat is a Chartered Accountant with close to two decades of cognate practice. He holds a National Diploma in Biotechnology from the Witwatersrand Technikon in South Africa, a BCom in accounting as well as financial accounting from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Igwe Peter Anugwu is holder of various congressional Honours, Proclamations and Keys from several cities in the United States of America and a member of the Board of Directors of the World Conference of Mayors. He was also conferred with the National Honour of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (OFR). He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Julius Berger Services Nigeria Limited.
