Lagos country club inducts new members, plans facility upgrade

The prestigious Lagos Country Club would soon wear new look as measures have been put in place to upgrade facilities to new models in the pursuant of its rebranding agenda.

Also, to make the club a haven for all, members have been tasked to generate ideas, suggestions and sponsorship support on the numerous lists of business networking events it is organizing.The President of the club, Tajudeen Akande, stated this during his welcome address at the induction ceremony of over 70 members at the club’s quarters.

Congratulating the new members on scaling the hurdles of the screening process, Akande urged them to participate actively to the development of the club irrespective of age or profession, saying all the members of the club are friends.

He said: “Your membership of this great club is a privilege, and it affords you the opportunity to socialize with business leaders, upwardly mobile professionals and people of good standing in the society.  I enjoin you all to strive at all times to faithfully adhere to the rules and regulations while have an array of sporting and recreational facilities in the ten sections of the club.”

Speaking on behalf of the inductees, Usoh Chamberlain, who appreciated the management council for granting them access to be members of the club, promised to contribute their own quota and also make impact for a smooth sail of the club.

“We have to say that we are incredibly honoured to be members of this club. We did look forward to this day and we are also looking forward to a fruitful and very long membership of this club while we are also looking forward to making an impact. We are also honoured, letting our families partake in this while we increase our quota to increase the fortunes of the club,” he said.

One of the council members, Babatunde Obakoya urged members to allow their families make use of the facilities in the club which has up to 10 sections, ranging from table tennis, swimming, badminton, and darts, among others.

The club as a pre-eminent family recreation club in Nigeria was established with the aim to promote social interest of members, promote and sustain sporting and social programmes for the advancement of family values and also promote inter-ethnic and inter-racial understanding amongst people.
