Lions Club empowers 50 youths with training kits
The Lekki Admiralty Lions Club International District 404A1, Nigeria, has empowered over 50 Oniru Victoria Island youths with new improved football training kits, balls and vests.
Speaking at Landmark trinity, the president, Lekki Admiralty Lions Club, Abidemi Olawumi, said the club’s project known as ‘Youth empowerment’ project is meant to assist the under-privileged persons in the society.
Olawumi disclosed that the club provided training kits to Plica United team because though they are interested in football, they do not have any particular mode of dressing.
She assures the youths that they will be follow up after this while hoping that in three years time Oniru youths should be able to groom someone for national team.
“We have a motivational speaker who is trying to give them motivational talk, stimulate and encourage them to be like great footballers.
I hope that in the next three years we should have somebody that will join the national team,” she said.
The Club’s Secretary, Monde Williams applauded the boys for choosing to pursue football as a career instead of becoming nuisance in the community.
She stated that for that decision alone, the club has identified their needs and have decided to give them proper identification, which is their own way of giving back to community.
