The Council of Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) has offered the Plateau State Branch of ANAN the rights to host the second session of its 2017 Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) programme slated for April 10 to April 13.

Chairman of the Plateau Branch, Mr. Ibrahim Makut disclosed this recently in Jos, noting that that over 3,000 participants were expected for the programme.

He said notable scholars in the profession would present papers on ways of getting out of the current economic recession to reflect the theme of the programme: “Public Sector Financial Management in Times of National Economic Recession.”

To contribute to the remoulding of students, there would be lectures for accounting students of tertiary institutions as part of the activities of MCPD to prepare them for the profession in future, while the lectures would be presented by Prof. Jane Ande, the first woman professor of accounting in the country.

The Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong will be the Special Guest of Honour and would declare the occasion open on Tuesday, April 11.

Makut explained that the branch had concluded plans with most hoteliers around Rayfield to discount their room rates to all ANAN participants, while vendors have been registered to enable them to sell their products.

He thanked the governor for appointing ANAN members into key positions in government, which include Permanent Secretary, Accountant-General, Auditor-General for local government as well as Special Adviser to the governor on Finance and Investments, among others.
