Registrar, Head of Service bicker over redeployment

The Registrar of Adamawa state polytechnic Yola, Mariyam Adamu Nyako, younger sister of the impeached former governor Murtala Nyako, and the state head of service Mr. Louis Mandama, are engaged in war of words over her purported redeployment to a new office.

According to Mandama, Nyako took oath of office three months ago, but has failed to resume work at her new posting, which caused the commissioner of Justice to write the civil service commission to withdraw her elevation to the post of permanent secretary.

“She rejected her positing and I then contacted the commissioner of Justice to take the necessary steps as stipulated in the Adamawa state civil service rules. The governor has since signed a letter withdrawing her elevation to the post of permanent secretary,” he said.

But Nyako has insisted that no one has withdrawn her permanent secretary appointment and that she is only waiting for her posting.She also said that she collected her appointed letter recently after taking oath of office three months ago.Nyako who could not give convincing prove why she took oath of office before collecting her appointment letter, which is abnormal in civil service rules and laws insisted that she is waiting for her redeployment.

Meanwhile, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Professor Ibrahim Umar has debunked allegations levelled against him by some staffers of the school.The Rector who expressed disappointment with some of his top management staff working against the progress of the school, challenged those that are not happy with his transparency, accountability to seek redeployment to other institutions.

“If any staff have something against me, such a staff should channel his petition to the governing council of the school, so that I can be invited to answer those allegations. It is childish to be using social media to blackmail me,” he said.

Umar disclosed that due to his lobbying capacity to develop the school, the presidential committee on north -east rebuilding has approved N1billion for the expansion of the school, since the polytechnic will be starting degrees programmes in 2019/2020 academic session.

He further pointed out that within his seven months in office he got N75 million from TETFUND to purchase one unit coaster bus and one hundred desktop computers, since he created four new departments and one college.
