Taraba okays Useni as chancellor
The Governor of Taraba State, Darius Dickson Ishaku, has approved the appointment of a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Jeremiah Useni, as the new Chancellor of the Taraba State University (TSU).
In a statement made available in Jalingo, the state capital, Useni, who is presently a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is to now oversee the affairs of the university which was established by the immediate past governor of the state, Danbaba D. Suntai.
The statement, which was signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Hassan Mijinyawa, urged the new Chancellor to assist in repositioning the newly established university to be able to compete with other higher institutions of learning in the country and the globe at large.
Some lecturers who bared their minds on the new development to The Guardian described the appointment as a welcome development to the university.
Believing that the new chancellor has all the requisites to take the institution to greatest highest, the state government, as suggested by them should as well play its role by creating a conducive environment for the chancellor and his team to operate.
