Youths charged to contribute to nation-building
In commemoration of the annual International Youths Day, the Oyo State Commandant of Peace Corps of Nigeria, Oludare Adigun, recently appealed to Nigerian youths to contribute positively to nation-building and national issues.
Adigun, who was the guest speaker dropped the charge while speaking at the event organised by the Impact Business Radio, Ibadan, also enjoined them to embrace entrepreneurial culture.
Specifically, he tasked the youths to contribute to national development, participate in the electoral process and be ready to take responsibilities.
Adigun however pointed out that government must provide the needed enabling environment by relaxing some of its policies particularly the ones centred on poverty reduction and eradication.
He said: “There is a general presumption that a society may have potential entrepreneurs, but only becomes entrepreneurial if it has a culture that supports innovation and initiative.”
Drawing a nexus between the lack of policies that promote entrepreneurial culture and poverty, Adigun said: “Poverty is not created by the poor themselves, it is not because they lack skills that they are poor.
