Around Naija, a TV reality show designed to showcase and promote the depth of Nigeria’s culture and tourist destinations, has concluded its auditions across the country.

The audition, which started in Kaduna, saw many young Nigerians who are eager to showcase their culture taking part in the event.

The audition train later moved to Abuja for the North Central zone, then to Enugu for the South East zone and Calabar for the South South zone with the grand finale in Lagos for the South West zone.

Speaking at the Lagos audition, the Project Director, Mr. Hyacinth Aniemeke, said the TV reality show is basically a road trip that will showcase the rich culture of the diverse Nigerian ethnic groups across the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.

The show will also highlight the beautiful tourist destinations and the cultural heritage of the diverse ethnic groups and people as well as their economic activities, food, language, dance, music, history/story-telling and dressing.

“We have concluded audition in Kaduna, Abuja, Enugu, Calabar and Lagos is the final centre for audition. The idea is for us to select the best participants to represent each of the 36 states in the country and the FCT. Over 10,000 people applied for the project across the country,” he said.

Aniemeke disclosed that N10 million, N3 million and N1 million would respectively be given to the first, second and third overall best. According to him, the best five contestants would also have community projects sited in any community of their choice.

Meanwhile, Managing Director, Blue Diamond Entertainments Limited, promoters of the project, Otunba Olumide Adekunbi, said: “This project is something Nigeria needs at this point in our national life, stressing that the project aims at revamping our culture, trade and more importantly, the unity we used to enjoy as one people in Nigeria.”

He added that the project is going to give each state opportunity to showcase their tourism potentials, as well as their rich traditional and cultural heritage.
