EKOIFF-FESTIVAL

The 7th edition of Eko International Film Festival, slated to take place from October 24-29, 2016, will recognise excellence in the film industry. The festival will form a key part of Nigeria’s cultural infrastructure, inspiring audiences, artists, filmmakers and professionals, who will attend from other parts of the world.

The yearly event is in collaboration with the United States Embassy on American Documentary Showcase. The collaboration is aimed at broadening the importance of using film as a tool for change in the society and also improve youth empowerment. Themes such as freedom of expression, conflict resolution, civil rights, climate change, disability rights, economic development, women’s empowerment will dominate discourse at panel discussions. The program line up will engage and empower audiences, especially youths and marginalised communities.

Venues are Ozone Cinema, Yaba, on October 21, from 10am – 4pm, while October 24th will be Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Programmes will also include film screening and workshops and master classes centred on capacity development for the film industry in Lagos.
