ONE of the strategies that the leadership of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has deployed to encourage Nigerians to patronize the school and its programme is the use of notable screen celebrities who are identified and conferred with ambassadorial honour. As ambassadors, they will be expected to promote the ideals and vision of the university.

Last year, five Nollywood personalities including Desmond Elliot and Ini Edo were named Ambassadors of NOUN. They were also enrolled into various programmes of the university. But this year, 11 Nollywood personalities were inducted as Ambassadors of NOUN by its Vice Chancellor, Professor Ado Tenebe at the 4th convocation ceremony of the university, which held recently at the National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.

The inductees include the actor turned attorney Kenneth Okonkwo, Chief Chika Okpala aka Zebrudaya, celebrated Kannywood actor and singer Sani Danja, notable actor Francis Duru and Kannywood actress Ramat Hassan. Others are the dependable actress and Member of the Federal Republic (MFR) Patience Ozokwo and frontline movie marketer and producer Okey Ezugwu.
