HOMEVIDA to use film to counter hate speeches

Amidst increased use of hate speeches on social media platforms, Home Video Integrity Award (HOMEVIDA) has called for the submission of short script on how the internet could be used as a vehicle to counter hate, terrorism and radicalisation speeches.

The Administrator and Partnership Manager, HOMEVIDA, Samuel Umejiaku, who disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja, yesterday, also announced entry for short script on Transparency, Accountability and Good governance.

According to him, the aim of the project funded by Google and the United States Agency for International Development SACE (USAID SACE) was to increase youth participation in governance.On the criteria for Countering hate speech category, he said application is open to youth between the ages 16 and 30 with unique stories.
