A new theatre group, Ibadan Play House, will stage Prof. Femi Osofisan’s The Engagement at Theatre Hall, University of Ibadan, Oyo State, from February 12 through 14. Mr. Niji Akanni will direct the play.

According to the Project Coordinator, Dr. Yomi Ogunsanya, “Ibadan Play House is a new initiative for theatre awareness through performances in Ibadan. It will quality stage productions that would re-awaken and sustain popular interest in live theatre appreciation in Ibadan and its environ. Our intention is to develop an all year performance-programming template for the benefit of Ibadan theatre enthusiasts. This shall be regular and sustained.

“Our alliances to deliver on our promises now are with the Department of Theatre Arts, University of Ibadan, MediaPhaktory and top quality writers, cast and technical crew. in “The first in the series of our performances is Femi Osofisan’s The Engagement, as directed by Niji Akanni. It features Adebisi Dedeke, Taiwo Ibikunle and Ropo Ewenla”.

There would be six shows of two performances a day. The matinee of the first day, Friday, February 12, 2016, is designed for students of secondary schools while the command performance would be the matinee of Saturday, February 13, 2016 for leaders of businesses and politics in Ibadan.
