Glo announces Timaya as brand ambassador

Telecoms data grandmaster and top supporter of entertainment in the country, Globacom, has announced one of Nigeria’s most popular musicians, Inetimi Alfred Odon, popularly known as Timaya, as a brand ambassador.

Telecoms data grandmaster and top supporter of entertainment in the country, Globacom, has announced one of Nigeria’s most popular musicians, Inetimi Alfred Odon, popularly known as Timaya, as a brand ambassador.

Globacom announced the crooner as the latest member of its exclusive list of brand ambassadors. The telecoms firm disclosed in a statement that Timaya was signed on as the latest Glo brand ambassador last week.

The new Glo ambassador is a singer, songwriter and producer reputed for his flexibility with the various genres of contemporary music. He has been known to switch expertly from raga, hip-hop, dancehall to afro beat. He has several highly rated albums to his credit.

After going solo in 2005, Timaya dropped the hit single Dem Mama, followed by the albumTrue Story which he released the following year. Having discovered himself, the young musician later pioneered the hip hop group, Dem Mama Soldiers and went ahead to release some other hits including Upgrade, LLNP, Gift and Grace and De Rebirth.

Timaya has won several awards including four Headies Awards and one Nigerian Music Award.He was appointed a Peace Ambassador by the Inter-religious and International Federation for World Peace (IIFWP). The organization explained that the musician was given the award because of his exemplary conduct. Dr. Hak Ja Haan Moon, co-founder of the IIFWP, stated that he is “one of those individuals whose lives exemplify the ideal of living for the sake of others, and who dedicate themselves to practices which promote the founding ideals of the IIFWP.”

Globacom has the cream of Nigeria’s showbiz stars on its list of brand ambassadors. Musicians MI, Omawumi, Reekado Banks, Ego, Korede Bello, Hadizah Blell (Di’ja); actors Patience Ozokwor, popularly called Mama G, Yvonne Nelson, Nadia Buhari and stand-up comedians Basketmouth and Bovi Ugboma are some of them.
