Nkechi Emmanuel fetes fans, dreams big for Nollywood

Nkechi Emmanuel of Clinic Matters gave her fans the opportunity of having a one-on-one with her. She also had a moment to thank them at a recent dinner party she organised at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja.

In a chat, Emmanuel said most people saw celebrities as demi-gods and untouchable, but that she wants her fans to know that it was not so.

According to her, there will be no fame without the love and support of people, adding that some people are only fortunate to be where they are.

“I am doing this to break that gap between my fans and me because I do not see myself differently. As celebrities, we do not dine alone with top politicians, or our colleagues.

I want to be able to give my fans a sense of belonging through this. It is also the reason I have brought everyone together since it would be hard to meet everyone separately at different times.”

The graduate of History and International Relations further explained, “Many fans have been writing me through my social media pages. Some told me they would like to see me in person, touch me, take pictures with me or have a date with me. This is the first edition, but I plan to do it yearly. For next edition, I would like to do it in collaboration with one or two of my colleagues to make it a lively atmosphere.”

Another thing she desires to do is to change the face of Nollywood by bring it close to America’s Hollywood.

“So far, I think I have done my best,” she said. “But I want to build something like a Disney World for Nollywood, where practitioners can shoot, edit, videos and have fun.”

On getting intimate before she lands a role, she noted, “Since they know I am talented, it is their loss. The same way I cannot give my body for a role is the same way I cannot act nude no matter the amount I am offered. That is my pride and I am an African woman.”
