Peace media holds hymn-jazz concert, award night

According to the Head, Peace Media, Adewuyi Joseph, the programme was to give more recognition to hymns in the life of the youths, apart from recognizing and honoring diligent church workers.

April 29 will ever be indelible in the minds of members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Peace Assembly, Ilasamaja, Lagos, as Peace Media, a department in the church organised a Hymn-Jazz Concert to evangelise Christ and also to honored those that have contributed to the development of the church.

Anchored by the Assistant Head, Peace Media, Elder Emokpaire Simeon, the event saw a 24-man choir of the church generously thrilled guests with lovely hymns spiced up in jazz.

According to the Head, Peace Media, Adewuyi Joseph, the programme was to give more recognition to hymns in the life of the youths, apart from recognizing and honoring diligent church workers.

He said: “ Youths are drifting to the world, having disregards to the things of the Lord, which has resulted to why there is a dislocation in our society today. With programmes like this, we look forward to bringing them back to the church and to Jesus Christ.

“We know people are used to different hymns and jazz music, but we just have to be innovative to attract them to the church, hence we infused jazz to the normal hymn, which gave birth to the Hymn-Jazz Concert,” he said.

Speaking on the award, he said there the need to encourage those who have been working wholeheartedly for the growth and development of the church. According to him: “If you appreciate an individual he/she will do more because he/she will be aware that there are eyes are watching. So, we want to tell workers and members through this means that their efforts are well appreciated.”

Tope Oloniniyi, Host Pastor, RCCG Peace Assembly (Province 67, Area 19), commenting on the event said: “Heaven’s reward is the ultimate and as believers we would get our rewards for all we are doing for Christ. However, we are encouraging ourselves to put in extra efforts in the move the church forward and to evangelise Jesus Christ.”

One of the award presenters, Vijay Paul, Sales Head, Saponaria Industry, noted that the judges meritoriously picked all the awardees, adding that it is a good thing to reward people who work diligently, as a way of encouraging them and motivating others to work hard.”

The awards categories are: Media Friendly Woman And Man, Best Worker, Most Intimate Couple and Best Chorister.The guest minister, Dcn Olukoya Olaniyi, added colours to the night with words of exhortation.
