Fas-rising RnB act, Chizoba Daniel Chika, also known as Sunkey, has promised to continue making good music in spite of odds. Days back, news filtered in that the budding artiste was suspended from his church following the release of his much-talked about video, Konfam.

The visuals of Konfam was said to have infuriated church authorities and he was subsequently suspended from all church activities. But that development didn’t seem to deterre the budding artiste. He said his suspension from church would not slow down his progress or dampen his morale to keep pushing out great songs.

While speaking on what led to his suspension, the musician who was born in Yaounde, the Camerounian capital, admitted that his suspension was real and that he would not be able to lead songs in church as he used to do.

According to him, “Yes, it is true. I was suspended from church choir.”Did he consider his role in the church before shooting the video? Sunkey said he made the visuals to a song as his profession requires, adding that he didn’t expect his role in the church to interfere with his professional career.

He said, “When the church communicated its decision to me, I felt bad, but I have taken it for the love of music. It was hard accepting that decision but I am indifferent to it now.”

Signed under Ekobeats Records, the soft-spoken singer has three singles to his credit, but he wants to do more and would not back down now on the music journey he stated at the age of five. “So far so good,” he asserted, “the label has been supportive of my career. All I do is pray that they become more supportive as we progress.”

Sunkey is not perturbed by the array of talents in the industry, saying he would rather concentrate on his game and work hard to be one of the most sought-after.

On how he intends to find his feet in the industry, he said, “I was told by my dad that no matter how hard one tries, one could never outrun the sky. Funny enough, no two artistes are the same. I am finding ways to show the peculiarity of my craft. I’ll be fine with time. I am very sure that my time is now.”
