Tehila Records talks peace with Alabanza concert in Johannesburg
Even as the relationships between Nigeria and south Africa worsens over xenophobia, a Nigerian record label, Tehila Records, is set to use music as a tool to promote peace and unity on the continent.
Tagged, ‘South Africa Meets Nigeria,’ the concert will hold on Sunday, March 26, at The Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City in Johannesburg.
The concert, which will bring people from all walks of life, will emphasise the importance of peaceful coexistence and the power of unity between Nigerians and South Africans.
Some of the artists billed to perform are Enkay, Chiika100%, Ntokozo Mbambo, Sammie Okposo, Khaya Mthetwa and Mabongi. Others include, Uche (Double Double), Tim Godfrey, Mahalia Buchanan, Chioma Jesus, Bukola Bekes and Freke Umoh.
Speaking on the essence of the concert, the convener and CEO of Tehila Records, Timothy Ogboruche, said: “This year’s Alabanza Concert is rooted on the beautiful biblical precept, which tells us how wonderful it is for God’s people to live together in peace and harmony. It is, therefore, our hope that Nigerians, South Africans and people from other countries come together to praise and worship God. They would also understand the importance of living together in diversity, which is one of the greatest gifts God has given to the human race.”
The concert, a yearly event started in 2013, is in its fifth edition. This year’s event is unique, as it is holding outside the shores of Nigeria for the first time.
