Ciudad Infrastructure Limited, an indigenous information technology (IT) solution provider and 4ipnet, a global renowned managed access & guest Wi-Fi provider based in Taiwan, have signed an agreement to provide free WiFi and internet services in various public spaces in Lagos.

The agreement signing is seen as a boast to the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) national broadband agenda and access to the internet.

Seun Olajide, managing director of Ciudad Infrastructure Limited said “Cuidad is the licensed representative of 4ipnet as a carrier grade WiFi solution provider in Nigeria, with a vision to ensure that Nigerians have access to fast internet at an affordable price”.

He also added that “The importance of internet to businesses in Nigeria today is enormous, known as an enabler, the need for businesses such as the small and medium scale enterprises to scale up their productivity lies in the power of internet connectivity. Fast internet connectivity has been known to cost so much for these sets of businesses” .

Xi Liang, director of Sales, 4ipnet for Europe, Middle East and Africa added that “ We have come to understand that as Nigerians are catching up with the digital economy, the need to have internet connectivity available in most public spaces is imperative, considering the cost of internet and also the impact of it in the economy, we are here to bridge the gap, by offering fast and free internet service to individuals and SMEs.”

With the free internet available in most public spaces, Businesses visibility would be enhanced using the free WiFi, SMEs and small businesses would be able to reach their customers and prospects using the adverts that would be sent to phones.

This would retain customers and attract new ones. The free internet services would be available in various malls, parks , restaurants and cinemas across Lagos by the first week of December, other cities would be included by first quarter of 2018.
