The Bitter Pool (1)
IN Exodus 15:22-23, we see the children of Israel complaining against Moses after their great deliverance from the hands of their enemies, the Egyptians. The Lord brought them into the wilderness and they went three days without finding water. When they finally arrived at Marah, they found water, but could not drink it because it was bitter. So, they began to complain to Moses about what they would drink. They forgot the miracle they just encountered three days before; they had been praising and dancing to God, but now that they were thirsty and could only find bitter water, they began to grumble and complain.
Watch Out For False Prophets (1)
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” Most sheep can easily be deceived into accepting any hireling wearing sheep’s clothing. Most believers may be impressed by the outward qualities and characteristics of false prophets and false teachers, if they look no farther than external manifestations. Our process of admitting workers, leaders and preachers into the ministry must go beyond the evaluation of “sheep’s clothing,” which human skill can make and wear. What the prospective workers and preachers are “inwardly” is more important than all impressive outward qualities
Why Restitution Message Has Taken Back Seat, By Clerics
Prior to this time, those who wholeheartedly embraced Christianity after repentance or being ‘born again’ never toyed with the aspect of restitution. While there were reports of some people rushing back to their former schools to restore stolen books and such other items, others went physically to those they had secretly offended or harmed in the past to apologise and ask for forgiveness. And those that married more than one wife sent the surplus packing. Today, however, this aspect of Christianity is not so prominent. Indeed, many preachers no longer bother the adherents with such message any more. The vogue now is to focus on prosperity message. But if restitution is biblical and considered critical to the genuineness of one’s spiritual state, why is it being gradually eroded from sermons? Clerics that spoke to CHRIS IREKAMBA on the issue attribute the development to the shift from salvation and piety to prosperity.
Stages Of Faith In God
Divine and personal encounter is the starting point of faith in God. According to the Bible, every individual that placed his/her faith in God arrived there because of a peculiar experience with God.
The Great Commission (1)
A commission is a command and authorisation to carry out a clearly defined important assignment. Jesus commissioned all believers before He ascended into Heaven. Every believer is therefore a commissioned soldier of the cross. So, what is the commission?
What Is Your God-given Mandate?
What is your purpose of being in this world? For what purpose did you think God create you? Do you think you came into this world by mere chance? The simple Catholic Catechism states that God created us to love him and serve him.... That is true. But there is more to it. All of us have specific brief from the divine on the role we are to play while on earth. Believe it or not, we are not here merely to live each day as it comes, enjoying ourselves and waiting for the day we would be called home. In one way or the other, we are all called to live purpose-driven lives by adding value to all of creation.
Why Did Jesus Christ Suffer And Die? (2)
FOR many reasons, Christ suffered and died. Why would you not embrace him as your Saviour from sin and judgment, and live with God eternally? God publicly endorsed Christ’s accomplishment by raising Him from the dead, proving the success of His suffering and death.
The Mystery And Power Of The Pendulum
ONE of the unresolved mysteries of life is the “POWER OF THE PENDULUM”. The Pendulum Clock is a mechanism whereby through its swinging action, human time is calibrated and measured. It is interesting to note that for human time to be measured and ascertained, Pendulum must always swing and oscillate.
Winning Faith (2)
WE are encompassed with so great a cloud of witnesses. Whatever our conditions or circumstances in life, there have been men and women of faith who went through similar situations. These examples of men and women of faith encourage us to put our trust in God. The study of the lives of these godly people who lived and fought the Lord’s battles victoriously is always helpful to our faith.
Justified By The Righteousness Of Christ
BELOVED, this year’s commemoration of the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ has come and gone, but the significant of it must remain an indelible mark in our consciousness. It is not something we can wish away or brush aside; rather it is something that should provoke us to seek Him, get closer to Him and understand the power of His resurrection, for by it we are justified.
