EMSL certifies MEMMCO’s meter factory

ELECTRICITY Management Services Limited (EMSL) has endorsed the products, processes and manufacturing facilities of MOMAS Electric Meters Manufacturing Company Limited (MEMMCOL).

  EMSL one of the successor organisations of the former Power Holding Company of Nigeria, charged with the sustained technical inspection, testing and certification of all electrical equipment, power systems and electrical Installations in the Nigerian electricity industry.

  Following a certification inspection tour of the MEMMCOL meter factory in Mowe Ogun State, which was carried out recently by officials of EMSL, the government agency commended the company for the cutting edge technology and state-of-the art equipment that it is deploying for the manufacturing of meters in the factory.

  In the certification report made available to the company, EMSL expressed satisfaction at the state of thirteen units of the manufacturing flow process of the company, observing that they are well constructed and adequately maintained.

EMSL also commended the expertise of the personnel, who were adjudged well trained, giving special kudos to their readiness and the discipline they put into the delicate operations they perform.

  According to the report, the machines were modern and have been installed using best installation practices. Operators were seen well kitted for the operations, and safety procedures were being observed. There was adequate illumination as well.

The report was attached to a letter sent by the managing director of MEMMCOL and signed by the managing director and chief executive officer of EMSL Engr. Peter O. Ewesor in which he advised MEMMCOL to keep up the good work and adhere to the world class standards that it has set for itself.

  “From our inspection exercise, it was observed that your electricity meters and instruments manufacturing facilities are well laid out, equipped and properly installed to world class standards. These facilities were observed adequate for the manufacturing of electric meters and instruments for use in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI),” Ewesor said.

  Responding to the endorsement, the chairman of MEMMCOL, Engr. Kola Balogun, expressed joy that the agency of the federal government is aware of the contribution that MEMMCOL is making to the development of the Nigerian economy as a whole and the fast-tracking of the growth of the power sector in Nigeria.

  “The report is a source of inspiration for us as an indigenous company operating in this sector. It is a boost to our firm desire to bring power supply in the country to the level of excellence that you can find anywhere in the world. We know that standardized metering will not only help power distributors to accurately bill and make correct planning for the amount of power consumed, it will also help consumers to monitor their own consumption rate and conserve energy. This will also make it imperative for entities that had not found reason to pay for energy like government parastatals and consumers who live in military and paramilitary barracks to begin to pay like many other citizens,” Balogun said.
