The Nigeria International Petroleum Summit (NIPS), which is set to in Abuja, between February 19th and 23rd 2018, has been positioned to tackle major technology gaps in the country’s oil and gas sector.

The summit, which is an Africa Petroleum Technology and Business Conference (APTC), launched by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo earlier this year, aims to ensure energy security not only in Nigeria, but within the African continent through latest technologies.

The Project Director of NIPS 2018, James Shindi, noted that the conference would be an avenue for leading Exploration and Production (E&P) service companies to showcase new onshore and offshore technologies.

According to him, companies from Africa, Europe, Asia, and America would be present to exhibit and demonstrate innovations in technologies in oil production, and transportation of energy resources, provision of oil and gas storage systems, services, existing and future oil and gas projects in the continent among others.

“Given that Nigeria’s Gas reserves have remained largely untapped, the country is expected to make a shift towards becoming a major producer and exporter of Gas which the summit provides an excellent business environment to interact, cross-pollinate ideas and to make deals happen,” Shindi added.

The technology and business conference would bring together Africa ministers in charge of petroleum and energy, chief executives and senior level directors of major oil, gas and allied companies to discuss key oil and gas projects in the Africa continent.
