Stakeholders to discuss oil, gas product manufacturing challenges

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode and other local and international players in the oil and gas sector will next week discuss solutions to the challenges confronting oil and gas product manufacturing in Nigeria and Africa.

The Institute of Oil & Gas Research & Hydrocarbon Studies, which disclosed that arrangement has been concluded for the 2018 “Oil & Gas Product Forum”, disclosed that heads of International Oil Companies (IOCs) National Oil Companies (NOCs) in Africa, lawmakers and other key stakeholders would be hosted in Lagos to deliberate on the prospects, challenges and progress in the sector.

In a release by the organisation, the stakeholders stated that there was need for deliberate effort to create a platform and sponsor seminars and public enlightenments to provide additional knowledge in the area of oil and gas products conception, development and manufacturing.

The 2018 topic: “Oil & Gas Product Manufacturing: Prospects, Challenges & Progress” seeks to bring together individuals with hands-on experience to discuss, share information, on new and innovative strategies to handle the many challenges in the manufacturing of oil and gas products in this part of the world, the statement said.

The Forum is expected to discuss issues bothering on oil and gas upstream, midstream and downstream regulation.

The focus of the event would also be on oil and gas infrastructure development and challenges in the financing oil and gas projects particularly manufacturing which is normally long term in nature.

According to the group, the 2018 Oil & Gas Product Forum shall expose participants to issues relating to quality standardization, certification and policy direction of Government, and other challenges.

The sub-themes at the conference include ‘Oil & Gas Product Manufacturing: Issues of Quality Standardisation,’ ‘Oil & Gas Product Manufacturing: Finding Capital from the Stock Market and ‘Oil & Gas Project Finance’.

Participating countries expected to attend this epoch making event include but not limited to Nigeria, India, UAE, South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Tunisia, Egypt, Pakistan, United States of America, Canada, and UK.

The institute said it would equally expose some finest products doing well in the market by executing the Oil & Gas Product Awards 2018.
