2016 Cowbellpedia mathematics quiz opens

cowbellPromasidor Nigeria Limited, in partnership with National Examination Council (NECO) has called for entries for the 2016 Cowbellpedia Secondary School Mathematics TV Quiz show.

The yearly competition, which has now gone online, would be conducted by NECO in order reach to participants across the country.

Head of Marketing, Promasidor, Festus Tettey, who announced this in Lagos, said the competition, which is free for all applicants is open to students between ages 10 to 18, who are attending secondary schools (both public and private) on full time basis.

He said each school is required to present their best 10 candidates comprising of five junior secondary school students and five senior secondary school students, irrespective of religion, tribe or state of origin.

He explained that this year’s competition will be in two stages, the qualifying written examination and television quiz show.

He said, “Interested applicants for this year’s edition should go to www.cowbellpedia.ng and follow the link for online registration. The stage one examination will be conducted by the NECO on Saturday, March 19, 2016.

The winner of this year’s competition will go home with a cash prize of N1m, a medal, a trophy and an all-expense paid vacation. The first and the second runner-up will take N750, 000 and N500, 000 respectively home, while the teachers will be awarded N400, 000. There will also be a plaque, mathematics textbooks and a desktop computer for the winners.

Managing Director of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Mr. Olivier Thiry explained that in this year’s edition, Promasidor has taken a strategic decision to bring all mathematics intervention activities by Cowbell under one umbrella, Cowbellpedia.

In order to encourage the Girl Child Education, he advised that mixed secondary schools must nominate minimum of two girls for each category in the school’s team.
