The former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, and President, African Development Bank Group, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina has called on stakeholders in the agriculture to stand behind his successor, Chief Audu Ogbeh to enable him succeed in the assignment.

Adesina, who was conferred with honorary degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) by the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife at its convocation last week, canvassed unalloyed support for Ogbeh, who was also a guest at the occasion.

Adesina, who graduated with a First Class honours degree in Agricultural Economics from the University in 1981, also received Special Policy Award of Transformer of Nigerian Agriculture in a season of double honours. This was on the auspices of the Central Award Committee of the Nigeria Agriculture Awards (NAA), which held the award ceremony recently in Lagos.

A distinguished development economist and agribusiness expert, he implemented bold policy reforms and innovative agricultural sector interventions during his ministerial tenure, as captured in the distinctively successful Agricultural Transformation Agenda (ATA).
