The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, has disclosed that the former Rector, Dr. Taiwo Akande, is being probed for alleged financial misappropriation.

A statement by the institution’s Deputy Registrar, Information, Ade Adeyemi-Adejolu, announced the suspension of the Registrar, Mrs. Sade Adediran and Bursar, Mr. E.A. Oni olabode for three months.

The statement said their suspension was “consequent upon an ongoing restructuring.”

Although the statement was silent on the exact reason for their suspicion, The Guardian leant that it was in connection with alleged mismanagement of workers’ promotion arrears running into N98 million.

The deputy registrar said the decision to suspend them was taken at the council’s statutory meeting held on February 15, 2018.

But, the former rector said in a telephone interview that she was not aware that the polytechnic authorities instituted a probe into her tenure.

She said: “I am not aware of that, but I know that that was the period when I was having problems with the unions.
