Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has called on Nigerian children to shun violence, embrace peace and imbibe tolerance in their lives.

Chief Obasanjo made the call last weekend while addressing NASFAT children at the premises of Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, OOPL, Abeokuta during their tour of the place as part of the activities for the 2017 Young NASFAT holiday camp which held in the Gateway State.

Obasanjo noted that Islam is a religion of peace and anybody who preaches or practices violence is definitely not practising Islam.

With Ending Violence Against Children as theme, the former President urged children to imbibe the lessons learnt during the camping exercise.
Earlier, the Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun had visited the children at the camp. In his address, Amosun commended NASFAT for the special programmes organised by the society aimed at raising God fearing children with great potentials as their counterparts anywhere.

Also addressing the children during his visit to the camp, the President of NASFAT, Engr Kamil Yomi Bolarinwa underscored the need for children to imbibe the virtues of obedience, truthfulness and hard work.

In her speech at the end of the week-long exercise, the Children Affairs Secretary of NASFAT, Alhaja Ganiyat Babalola expressed satisfaction at the quality exposure and training made available to the children during the camping period. She however advised the participants to ensure that their behaviour reflects tolerance and other core values of Islam.

The NASFAT Children Holiday Camp is an annual activity of the Society which has consistently run for over a decade. The last one was held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
