The real end of any country’s marketing campaign has to be predesigned to generate, not just positive emotions, but resonate in the marketplace of goods, services and ideas.

The event aims to aggregate ideas and market-oriented strategies for a fit-for-purpose positioning statement by Nigeria before the rest of the world.

With the theme ‘In Search of the Right Purpose for the Nigerian Brand,’ leading marketing and public relations practitioners, Lampe Omoyele and Bolaji Okusaga, would lead discussions at the second edition of BRANDish Meeting of Minds, scheduled for August 4, at Ibis Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos. The event aims to aggregate ideas and market-oriented strategies for a fit-for-purpose positioning statement by Nigeria before the rest of the world.

Regarding the upcoming event, Analyst-in-Chief, BRANDish, Mr. Ikem Okuhu, said discussions such as this have become urgent, especially because Nigeria has, over the years, struggled to find a fitting purpose for the country, adding that most previous efforts did not work because they were anchored on emotions that are clearly antithetical to the reality of the country on ground and which were not designed for the nation to profit from the global business space.

He stressed that discussions with professionals are required to enable Nigeria maximise opportunities in the face of the scale of capital preferences in the world.

According to him, “The real end of any country’s marketing campaign has to be predesigned to generate, not just positive emotions, but resonate in the marketplace of goods, services and ideas. If there is no design to ensure there are real tie-ins for business, such a campaign serves no real use.”

On the two key speakers, Okuhu said they were selected because of their successes in managing big ticket marketing and public relations portfolios in Nigeria and expressed the belief that they are capable of providing strong messages that would enable serious conversations that would lead to a fresh review of all frameworks for future successful nation’s marketing activities by Nigeria.

Okuhu stated, “Lampe Omoyele, who will be speaking on the topic, ‘The Economics of Evolving a Market-led Nation Proposition for Nigeria,’ is a business leader, marketing expert, coach and public speaker with over 25 years’ experience gained in leading multinational companies. He possesses deep understanding of marketplace dynamics across fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), retail and telecommunication industries in Africa. He possesses strong commercial acumen and execution capability in commercial and general management roles, with proven track record of delivering business results in challenging and internationally diverse markets and has held high-end leadership positions, including at Cadbury, Airtel, PZ Cussons and Glaxo SmithKline and Nielsen West Africa.

“Okusaga, on the other hand, is a strategy and brand enthusiast with wide experience in the mass media, marketing, public relations and banking. He currently runs one of Nigeria’s largest public relations consultancy (The Quadrant Company), with multi-national clients, a position that has enabled him to deliver the right perception for these clients, using a combination of brand communication, reputation management, media relations, corporate lobby and government relations. The combined experiences and expertise of these two people will go a long way in delivering materials that can help those saddled with managing Nigeria to create a profitable template for a purpose-driven positioning for our country.”

Okusaga will speak on ‘Foreign Direct Investment and the Power of a Made-for-Purpose, Non-Emotional PR for Nigeria.’

In its second edition, BRANDish Meeting of Minds was created as a quarterly conversation platform on diverse issues in marketing and communication in Nigeria
