DFID partners Lagos govt on school infrastructure

United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID) has expressed readiness to collaborate and support Lagos State government in the area of education, particularly to upgrade infrastructure in schools.

DFID Permanent Secretary, Mark Lowcock, during a courtesy visit on the Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Oluranti Adebule, said the gesture was to make teaching and learning more conducive in Lagos schools.

Lowcock stated that the body was encouraged by the commitment of the state government to the implementation of various educational policies geared toward repositioning the education sector of the state to meet international standard practice.

Specifically, he said that DFID would be assisting the State government in the areas of modern instructional materials and adoption of information technology for teaching and general improvement of pupils.

The DFID head of public service commended the state government for its efforts in improving the security situation in the state, noting that the effort would help to drive the economy, as investors are always very conscious of security of the environment they would want to invest their money.
