As part of efforts to improve the country’s educational sector, the Association of Private Education in Nigeria (APEN), has stressed the need to deploy technology into the system, as this would play a crucial role in achieving the goals of education.

Speaking at the seventh yearly conference of APEN in Lagos State, with the theme, “Explore, Discover, and Innovate,” the guest speaker, Mr. Gbenga Oyebode, charged private school owners to embrace the application of technological in teaching.

The legal practitioner, who spoke on the importance of technology in the Nigerian educational system said, “There is need for continuous technological training for teachers in our private schools as this will help to enhance their technological skills, as well as, prepare them ahead of the global challenges in the future.

Chairman of APEN, Dr. Olufemi Ogunsanya, in her address said the world of work is changing faster, and more drastically than ever before in recent history. So, “For us as educators, the only measure of our success is the success of our students. Success in this context can be defined, not simply as doing well in school, but really as doing well in life after graduating from our schools, both professionally and personally.

She said, “The onus, therefore, rests on us as educators to be innovative in how we deliver our curriculum; how we teach, and how and why we use technology in what we teach.

In her remarks, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Oluranti Adebule, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Teachers Establishment and Pension Office, Mrs. Sewanu Amosu, commended APEN for the intervention and support for the delivery of quality education in the state and the country.
