Bowen University VC tasks administrators on global excellence

Vice chancellor of Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, Prof Matthews Akintunde Ojo has tasked administrators on the future of university education in the country saying tertiary institutions must be properly positioned to compete favourably with their counterparts across the world.

Prof Ojo in his keynote address at the maiden Registry public lecture of the institution that brought together administrators from some universities in the Southwest said Registry staffs were in a key position of influence to assist the growth of the nation’s university system in this era of sophisticated technology.

Prof Ojo in his keynote address at the maiden Registry public lecture of the institution that brought together administrators from some universities in the Southwest said Registry staffs were in a key position of influence to assist the growth of the nation’s university system in this era of sophisticated technology.

In his lecture titled: “Enhancing professionalism among career administrators in a competitive and dynamic university system”, the guest lecturer, Dr. Omojola Awosusi, a former Registrar of Ekiti State University charged administrators to “raise their game to facilitate the process of pooling together the best talents” and cultivate the society to invest in their institutions.Awosusi pointed out that a lot still has to be done to facilitate the transition of the nation’s institutions from average to world-class standard.

He, therefore, called on the university administrators to be knowledgeable, honest, self-disciplined and accountable in their job as all employers of labour now hire the best hands.

Besides, he enjoined them to develop charisma, courage, competence, compassion, credibility, connection, ability and grace to influence other people in their environment.
On his part, Bowen University Registrar, Dr Kayode Ogunleye, commended the vice chancellor for encouraging and releasing funds for training and re-training of staff of the institution.
