Grace High School tasks outgoing students on excellence, diligence
Graduating students of Grace High School have been admonished to aim high and embrace excellence in everything they do. The Principal, Dr. Stella Olagunju, gave the advice at the school’s 20th graduation ceremony.
Olagunju, who expressed delight on the performance of the outgoing students, described them as titans just as she charged them to do their alma mater proud.“Today we are sending you forth as worthy ambassadors of this school to rule the world and make a great difference in world history with all the amazing and exceptional abilities you have been equipped with during your stay here.”She said the students demonstrated “great and outstanding qualities that are desirable”, urging them to keep exhibiting those qualities that endeared them to the school authorities.
“Always be yourself. Never allow the crowd consciousness to dictate or tell you who you should be. Consciously learn to manage your time wisely and avoid time wastage,” the principal said.
Olagunju also advised the graduands to mind the company they keep, engage their mind with productive things and choose a purpose-driven life. “Remember you carry a brand. Let your conduct, character, ideas and good principles proclaim the good news Grace High School always propagate.”
Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Abayomi Olagungu, urged the outgoing students to always listen to the voice of God. Olagunju who is the Dean, Postgraduate School, Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo said in critical situations, they should never lose hope, but trust God for a way out.
The Statistician General of the Federation, Dr. Yemi Kale, who was represented by Mrs. Lola Talabi, advised the graduands to know what they want and be determined to achieve their goals.
“Make choices that will enhance the realization of your goals. Your actions and decisions will affect who you will be tomorrow.By 2050, Nigeria will be the third most populous country in the world and over 50 percent of that population will be below 30 years, therefore, there will be greater competition among the youths. This is the reason right from now you should embrace hardwork and high integrity,” he said.
