ICAN, Caleb University sign MCATI agreement
As part of effort to boost accounting profession, the Institute of Chattered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), has signed a Mutual Cooperation Agreement with Tertiary Institutions (MCATI) with Caleb University, Imota.
In his speech, President of ICAN Mallam Ismaila Zakari said the agreement would allow 200 level undergraduates of the institution to be exempted from 11 subjects when writing the final ICAN examination.
According to him, five foundation and six skill-level subjects would be set-aside for the students.He added that the gesture is also aimed at deepening the quality of accounting profession; develop technical competence and ethical skills among the students.
Zakari urged the students to be diligent and also maximise the opportunities given to them, reminding that most of their counterparts are willing to secure admissions into institutions of higher learning but were not privileged.
In his remarks, the institution’s vice chancellor, Prof Ayandiji Aina expressed satisfaction with the gesture of ICAN adding that the institution would fulfill its part of the agreement. Aina stated that the institution is not only training the students in academics but also professional competence.
