NGO seeks private sector support for schools
A non-governmental organisation, The Total School Support Seminar and Exhibition (TOSSE) has canvassed private sector participation in the funding and overall development of the sector.
The Managing Director, Mrs Yinka Ogunde who spoke with reporters on the forthcoming 10th edition of the organisation’s seminar and exhibition series, which serves as a unique learning platform for educators.
Ogunde said the objective of the organisation is to address the myriads of problems confronting the public and private schools and to bring together all key stakeholders in the sector with a view to formulating ways of tackling them.
According to her, supporting the sector should go beyond donating classrooms and toilets, stressing that human capital development should be given priority attention.
TOSSE brings together over 6,000 stakeholders in the education community as well as over 100 organisations developing innovative products and services for the sector.
For the past 10 years, Ogunde stated that the organisation has been providing a unique learning platform for the sector across the various states, while attracting visitors from other African countries.She disclosed that about 23 states as well as countries like Togo, Kenya, South Africa and United Kingdom as well as four companies from Finland will participate at the seminar and exhibition billed to hold between June 7 and 8.
