Oyegbile, Oluwaseun win Cowbellpedia competition for teachers
To commemorate the 2016 World Teachers Day, Promasidor Nigeria Limited, makers of Cowbell milk, celebrated Nigerian teachers with a special edition of Cowbellpedia Mathematics TV Quiz Show.
Mr. Isaac Oyegbile of Hallmark Secondary School, Ondo, Ondo State and Daramola Joseph Oluwaseun of Dansol High School, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos State, emerged winner in the senior and junior category, respectively.
The competition, which featured twelve teachers who accompanied their students to the finals of the ongoing Cowbellpedia Mathematics TV Quiz show, saw Oyegbile defeating his former mathematics teacher, Mr. Peter Olayiwola Oyewole, who is presently a mathematics teacher from Adeyemi College of Education Demonstration Secondary School, Ondo, Ondo State in the keen contest.
Oyewole in a swift reaction shortly after the contest, described Oyegbile as a very intelligent, humble and listening “student” when he taught him mathematics in Oyo many years ago, adding that his (Oyegbile’s) success is also his, and a testimony of the fruit of his labour.
He said, “I feel great, there is nothing to be worried or embarrassed about. The father of the king is also a king. It is a great day for me. I am very happy. In the last 35 years I have been teaching mathematics and my student, Master Ayodele Akinkuowo, won last year’s edition of the Cowbellpedia quiz competition (senior category).
So, I am a proud teacher because my students are doing great.”Oyegbile, on his part described Oyewole as a great teacher and motivator who structured his vision as a young man. He expressed appreciation to the organisers and sponsors of the event, for making him an “instant celebrity.”
In the junior category of the teachers’ edition, Oluwaseun defeated five others to carry the day.Managing Director of the company, Mr. Olivier Thiry, stated that in the last 18 years, Promasidor has been involved in educational development of Nigerian youths, particularly in the sponsorship of mathematics competition.
