To help secondary school students make informed decisions on their career choices, The Helpmate Foundation (THF), has trained students of select schools in Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State.

The foundation, which comprises students from the Faculty of Education, University of Lagos (UNILAG), was established for the purposes of mentoring and providing students and young school leavers, with information that would guide them in their higher academic pursuits.

Speaking at the seminar, Founder/Director of THF, Rasheeda Opere, a 300-Level student of the university, who spoke on the theme, “Beyond the Spheres,” explored the complexity of challenges awaiting students in higher institutions, adding that the foundation was committed to helping them identify and overcome those challenges.

She said, “As a school leaver or graduate, you need to know how to cope with challenges and how to make the right decisions. We want you to understand the societal challenges that would confront you and need to be well informed to be able to deal with every situation and succeed.”

Secretary, Odi-Olowo/ Ojuwoye LCDA, Rasaq Olusola Ajala, in his goodwill address urged participants to face their future with optimism and be focused as they seek higher learnings.

The guest speaker, Mr. Abdullah Davies, advised participants to be cautious of distractions, adding that the real experience was the one students gets after graduation.

Chief Executive Officer of Deryne Couture, Mrs. Aderinsola Adio-Adepoju, urged the participants to leverage on their youthful age, avoid enthusiasm and be firm with time management.

She also advised youths to invest in training and utilise their energies and money on creative entrepreneurial ideas that would ultimately affect the society positively.
