Ipaye promises to support NBA Lagos Law Week

LAGOS State Attorney-General & Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ade Ipaye has assured the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Branch that the state government would throw its full weight behind the association in its bid to organize a fitting and most memorable 2015 Law Week for its members.

LAGOS State Attorney-General & Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ade Ipaye has assured the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Branch that the state government would throw its full weight behind the association in its bid to organize a fitting and most memorable 2015 Law Week for its members.

Speaking when the Law Week Committee members paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Ikeja, Ipaye noted that the state government had always supported the Bar in the state, adding that the cordial relations between lawyers and the government had deepened justice sector reforms.

He assured the team that the state government would support the branch in its Law Week activities, stressing the need for continuing legal education to enable lawyers sharpen their legal skills and remain relevant in their chosen profession.

Earlier, NBA Lagos Branch Chairman, Mr. Alex Muoka who led the delegation informed the Attorney-General of his appointment to chair the tax session during the Law Week slated for 24th to 26th June, 2015, adding that the high-profile Law Week Dinner would be devoted to honour the Special Guest and out-going Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) and welcome the Governor-elect, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode.

Aside from Ipaye, other deserving members of the Bar would also receive awards at the dinner. In her contribution, Chairperson of the Law Week Committee, Mrs. Tolani Edu-Adeola thanked Ipaye for his continued support, adding that he “has been an exemplary Leader of the Bar for Lagos State” during his four-year sojourn as Attorney-General & Commissioner for Justice.

She noted that the week is designed as the “best ever in the history of the Premier Bar, given the array of resource persons, topical industry-related discourses and fun-filled activities lined up for the week.” Other members of the Law Week Committee present at the occasion were Ms. Geraldine Wey, Mr. Emeka Nwadioke and Mrs. Tara Aisida.
