Raymond-DokpesiAS the founder of Daar Communication celebrated 64 recently, in marking the day, the Raymond Dokpesi Centre for Media Development staged an endurance trek of 5 kilometre within Alagbado of Lagos.

The Director General of the group, Chris Ebuetse said they decided to honour Dokpesi with the walk because he has remained profound, sacrificial and committed to issues of peace, unity and the country’s development.

He said with the man’s enigmatic character of purpose, private broadcasting has become a veritable tool to national development and peace. “To some of us, this great struggle remains indelible in our historical development as a nation. Let me state that Raymond Dokpesi took the risk to embrace private broadcasting during the military era.

“Some of us then knew the draconian nature of the military. The fear that private broadcasting will be given a lean chance to survive did not stop Dr. Raymod Dokpesi. He wanted to be on the side of the people because government broadcasting stations were always reporting what the government wanted people to hear. The voice of the oppressed was never heard. Thus, with Raypower 100.5FM, Dokpesi gave voice to the people.”
