Minister of State for Education, Professor Anthony Anwukah, has charged school principals and those implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) projects across unity colleges to make quality their watchword.

While speaking at the SDG Implementation Status Meeting in Abuja, on Monday, he questioned the rationale behind taking the same route year-in-year-out and expecting to arrive at a different destination.

“We are doing the same things all over and getting same results. When are we going to address these problems permanently? Toilets and dinning halls are renovated yearly. Why not build a good dinning hall at once? The minister querried.

In charging the officials to ensure accountability and avoid wastage, he said, “Serious commitment is required because there will be rigorous monitoring at all stages of project implementation.

Permanent secretary in the ministry, Folashade Yemi-Esan, in her remarks maintained that the ministry would ensure that judicious use of resources is strictly complied with, adding that uncompleted projects would not be tolerated.

She added that a group of independent monitors either from the Presidency, or the National Assembly, would also be checking the SDG projects to ensure compliance.
