The National Examinations Council (NECO), Minna, Niger State, has donated learning materials and two boreholes to its immediate host communities – Gidan Mogoro and Gbaganako, all in Chanchaga local council areas of Niger State as part of it’s corporate social responsibility.

Registrar/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the council, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, while presenting the learning materials to indigent students of Day Secondary School, Gbaganako, said that the idea was part of efforts to enhance a cordial relationship with its host communities.

The commissioning of the boreholes and the presentation of the materials was part of activities to mark the registrar’s one year in office.

In addition to this, three Senior Secondary School Three (SSS Three) students were registered free for the June/July Senior Secondary School Examination (SSCE), while three other SSS Two students were presented with textbooks, notebooks and mathematical sets among other learning materials.

Professor Garba gave the assurance that the council would extend similar gesture to other communities in the state in the nearest future, stressing that the entire state was host to the organisation.

Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, who was represented by his Commissioner for Education, Hajiya Fatima Madugu, expressed appreciation to the management and staff of NECO for the good gestures, saying it will go a along way in sustaining mutual relationships between the examination body and the host communities.
