Nigerians in UAE, UNIPORT alumni back President’s re-election

NIGERIAN community in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has endorsed the candidacy of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in the presidential election on Saturday.

Also, the ‎University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) Alumni Association has supported a second term for President Jonathan.

President and Coordinator, Goodluck Friends’ International, Obieze Godown Onyeka, disclosed this in an exclusive interview with The Guardian in Lagos.

Onyeka, who is the outgoing president of Nigerian community in Dubai, said Jonathan’s leadership style, foreign policy, youth empowerment and infrastructural development have gained him their support.

“Since this administration came on board, Nigerians are no longer harassed at international airports like common criminals and our host country (UAE) now respects us. Besides the upgraded foreign policy, Nigerian foreign ministry and embassies are now assisting Nigerians in any situation.”

Onyeka, who declared that PDP will win the Lagos State governorship election, praised Jonathan on his efforts to combat insurgency in the country.

National President of UNIPORT Alumni Association, Mr. Sampson Ngerebara, disclosed the body’s resolve at a town hall meeting in Lagos during the weekend, with the theme: “The Role of Alumni Associations in Political Socialisation.”

He said, “our stake as an association is slightly higher because of our Primus Alumnus grand patron, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Ebele Jonathan is running for re-election.”
