‘Nigerians should not link Boko Haram insurgents with Islam

The Founder of Lutful-Lahi International, Sheikh Mohammed Robiu Abdul Malik, has called on Nigerians not to relent in prayers for the success of the present administration.

Abdul Malik, who spoke at the yearly Lailatul Qadr in Lagos, also enjoined Nigerians not to link the Boko Haram insurgents with Islam, as he emphasized that Islam is a religion of peace, love and goodness.

He described the insurgents as anti-Islam and is working against the interest of Islam, insisting that their practices are not part of Islamic law.

“Most people that call themselves boko haram are not Muslims because those caught cannot recite the Quran,” he said.

He added that, the insurgency sect members were products of international terrorism and not members of Islam or any other religion in Nigeria.

The scholar further urged Islamic clerics to sustain positive image of Islam.

Although, he said that should not be seen as the responsibility of the clerics alone but a collective responsibility of all Muslims.

He noted that the clerics have a greater role to play in promoting peace in the country.

Abdul Malik advised the clerics not to dent the good image of Islam using their preaching to secure wealth, fame and worldly position.

“They should desist from praying for corrupt political leaders”, he said.

The renowned scholar urged Nigerians to strive for peaceful co-existence because it guarantees unity and progress.

He noted the common thing that is threatening the progress of Nigeria as a nation is corruption, adding that victory over corruption will liberate Nigerians from poverty, poor living standard and bad economy.

He urged Nigeria to have firm believe that the country will be good, if religious leaders desist from praying for people who are embezzling the economy fund.

He prayed for the country, and asked Allah to touch the hearth of the political leaders.

President of Lutful-Lahi International, Prof. Abdul Gani Oke, said the turn out for the Lailatul Qadr is very massive because people believe that they will surely receive Allah’s mercy.

He noted that election is on it way and the government should try as much as possible to engage the youth.

“If the youth are empowered, the rate of youth unrest would reduce,” he stated.

He noted that youth empowerment, should begin from the school system, the curriculum has to be overhauled. “Every child leaving the secondary.
