In a bid to give back to society, oil brand, Rainoil, is hosting a series of corporate social responsibility activities across the country to mark its 20th anniversary, with activities that kicked off since May 1 in selected Nigerian schools. Its Brand and Corporate Communications Manager, Olasumbo Wright, told The Guardian that the company chose to celebrate the anniversary in schools with initiatives that aimed at positively impacting and giving back to the communities where they operate.

According to her, “In the area of health and social welfare, we offer financial support to orphanages, motherless babies’ homes and other identified areas of needs in our local communities. Rainoil considers community requests for supporting meaningful causes, which serve the public interest. In addition, our corporate volunteer services focus on caring for the less privileged and disabled and elderly.

“We also give financial support to different educational programmes where these programmes demonstrate a role in developing the community, as well as sponsorship of sports initiatives with a youth development focus.”

Activities will continue until Thursday with eye screening services at St. Joseph School, Makurdi, Benue State, while Modupe Cole Orphanage, Akoka, Lagos, will get the donation of medical facilities also.

Wright said that earlier in April the company had commissioned a 2km road construction in Idumuje-Ugboko, Delta State, adding, “The event witnessed a large turnout of community members who lauded the company’s effort in creating, noting that it would increase trade and vehicular movements in the locality.”

She stated that the road was commissioned by the governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, who also appreciated the company’s laudable initiative, noting, “Also, a $90,000.00 sponsorship of 18 years old tennis prodigy, Emmanuel Sylvester to a tennis academy in Spain was one of our CSR initiatives, which was greatly extolled by Nigerian Tennis Federation. Feedback from all Rainoil CSR programmes has been impressive, and this, in turn, helps us identify more opportunities and also reinforce our commitment to do more where and when we can.”
