Chairman of the newly inaugurated Board of Trustees (BoT), Gen. Oladayo Popoola (rtd) who disclosed this at the board’s maiden meeting which had in attendance, the Presiding Bishop of the church, Francis Wale Oke, his wife, Victoria and other members Philemon Adeniran, Dr. John Fagbenro, Mr. Banji Osunkunle, His Eminence, Sunday Ola Makinde and Dr. Bayo Adegoke, who was named the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, named the two faculties as Social and Management Sciences as well as Pure and Applied Sciences.

He listed the five departments billed for take off as Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Natural and Physical Sciences.

Ahead of the September takeoff of the university, Gen Popoola said the board had directed the Council to recruit principal officers and other key members of staff.

On his part, Oke, who announced that a Chancellor would be appointed for the university in due course, described the issuance of the provisional license on the December 6, 2017 as the manifestation of the dream of 11 years.

He thanked Gen. Popoola for taking the responsibility of leading the university’s Board of Trustees at this crucial stage of its life and expressed the determination to make it a world-class institution that would produce entrepreneur and competent leaders who would drive the economy in the nearest future.

For the first five years of its existence, Oke said the University of Ibadan (UI) would mentor the new PCU.

The Pro-Chancellor pointed out that the establishment of the university was not just to add to the number, but also to be a game-changer.
