meadowhall-750x420As part of efforts to address the leadership challenge confronting the nation, Meadow Hall School, Lekki, Lagos State and Akinjide Adeosun Foundation, (AAF), a non-profit and non-political organisation, have entered into a partnership geared towards providing leadership training to students.

Speaking during the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) chairman/founder of AAF, Mr. Akinjide Adeosun, emphasised the need for parents and school managers to imbue kids with leadership traits early in life.

Adeosun who announced that the partnership was designed to build the pupils’ leadership capabilities, said the firm would deploy various tools, such as discourse on leadership values, case studies on role models, interactive mode of learning, entertainment, community projects by the children and shadowing of exemplary leaders at work place, in the course of the training.

According to him, “Structures have been built to evaluate progress and measure the impact of knowledge being gained. Our children will benefit from this programme at no cost to their parents. The initial target classes are Year 9 and Year 10. It is our desire to follow these children till they attain leadership.

“The key outcome of this initiative is the observable positive leadership behaviours of excellence, integrity, transformation and empathy in leaders we are building. We believe leaders exhibiting these values will deliver results-oriented outcomes to the society. Effective leadership is mandatory to drive the three dimensions of development, economic and social environment,” he said

On her part, the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Meadow Hall Group, Mrs. Kehinde Nwani, “I hope with this partnership, our children would be leaders proffering solutions to problems and challenges around them. We hope we will be able to raise great leaders not only in Meadow Hall, but in Nigeria at large.”

In her presentation, Principal Consultant/Chief Eexecutive Officer (CEO), Leading Learning Limited, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo, “no one is born to be a leader, leadership is a skill, which is either taught or learned.

It’s about making others better as a result of your presence and making sure the impact that you have created lasts in your absence.”
